Hello crafters! This is Zeyna from Mummy On My Mind back with another Mom & Child craft, this time with the theme of December “Gold” in mind.

For this month’s GOLD theme, I decided to create a Seashell Memory Frame. Master Z and I have a habit of collecting seashells whenever we visit the beach so you can imagine we had quite a few at hand. With the impending arrival of Baby number 2, I wanted to create something special with these shells to remind us of the time when it was just me and my first born. Just Master Z and myself, a tribute to spending every waking (and sleeping) moment together and how magical our mother and son bond is.
For this project I used the following PPS Supplies:
Deco Foil Gold Transfer Sheets 6″X12″ 5/Pkg
Thermoweb Deco Foil Adhesive Pen .34fl oz
Art Gone Wild Tim Holtz Layered Stencil 4.125″X8.5″, Flourish
Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool 1″
Tim Holtz Distress Oxides Ink Pad Salty Ocean
Firstly, I began by painting a piece of thick paper, the size of the inside of my chosen frame, using the Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean. I did this using a dabbing motion with the Ink Blending Tool.
Once the painted paper is dry, it is time to get foiling! I used this Tim Holtz Layered Stencil (Flourish), placed it on top the paper, and applied the Deco Foil Adhesive where I wanted to gold foil to be.
The pen makes it really easy and precise to apply adhesive, and comes with an extra nib too.
Once I applied the adhesive, I removed the stencil and waited for a couple of seconds. Next, I then cut and placed the Gold Deco Foil Transfer Sheet on top of the paper, gold side facing up. I rubbed it to ensure the adhesive did its job properly, and after about 30 seconds, removed the foil to leave a gorgeous flourish pattern at the top of the painted paper (as seen above).
Now it was time to make the seashells look magical, using the same Gold Foil Technique. These seashells I had collected with my son, Master Z, are the star of this show, so to speak.
This time I did not use any stencil, but simply applied the Adhesive pen on top of the shells in a rough manner. I then applied the gold foil sheet, waited for it to transfer, and removed it to reveal a lovely hazy gold finish to my seashells. Each seashell is unique and gorgeous in it’s own way, some with plenty of glitter, whilst others with only a hint.
Next, I placed the blue painted paper inside the frame, and arranged the gold foiled seashells on top, working out the composition I would like.
Once, I was happy with the result, I glued them in place using a normal bottle of PVA Glue, let it dry, and ta-da! My Seashell Memory Frame was complete.
I absolutely love the 3D effect and glimmer of this gold foil seashell frame, giving life to the memories of our time spent collecting seashells at the beach.
