Hello there! Mable here with my project for December. It is the end of the year 2017 and its time to reflect on the year gone by and make plans and resolutions for the new year! So, for my project, I decided to make a tabletop DIY inspirational CD Case calendar to inspire me during 2018. In keeping with this month’s theme of “Gold”, I used Gold sharpies to add some details to the calendar.
The supplies used are:
•Finetec Moirée Palette
•Sharpie Paint Pens – Gold & Silver
•Sharpie Permanent Markers – Gold & Silver
•Bohin White Chalk Pencil
•DCWV 12×12 Neutrals Metallics Cardstock
•CD Case
•Dip Pen with Nib
•Double Sided tape
Let’s start making the CD Case Calendar:
Step 1 – To make the monthly cards for the CD Case Calendar, I used two sheets from the DCWV Cardstock pack and cut them into 6 squares measuring 12 cmsx12cms. This is the size of the CD case cover which forms the stand for my calendar. I chose the green and brown cardstock for the backgrounds as they would go well with the Finetec lettering and help the gold to stand out. Using the Bohin white chalk mechanical pencil, I lightly drew out 7mm guidelines spaced 21mm apart on both sides of each piece of cardstock. This chalk pencil is great to draw guidelines on dark colored cardstock. Then I wrote 12 different inspirational quotes on both sides of the metallic cardstock pieces with Finetec and a dip pen.
Step 2 – For the monthly calendar segments, I downloaded a 2018 calendar template from a spreadsheet program and resized it so that each monthly segment fit in 3.5 cms x 6.5 cms rectangles. To make it more personal, I highlighted important dates before printing and cutting out the segments. Then I used double sided tissue tape to stick the month piece under the quotes. I also erased the white guidelines. Ensure the Finetec has dried before doing this step.
Step 3 – Next, I added the year and month names on both sides of the calendar segment with the Fine Gold Sharpie Paint Pen.
Step 4 – To complete the monthly cards, I drew a border around the inspirational quote with the Fine Gold Sharpie Permanent Marker. This fine point is a slightly broader than the Paint marker.
Step 5 – Lastly, I flipped open an empty CD case, and placed the Calendar cards in the cover holder.
