Hi there! How is 2018 treating you so far? This is Zeny and I’m back with my project for this month’s theme “Hope”. I am going to show you how I made my easy DIY dashboard and weekly layout using the blank insert from My Prima Planner Travel Journal.
I love to personalize my dashboards because it adds charm to my planners / journals. It also creates a transition that sets the theme for each month.
I started by embossing “Hello 2018” on the cover of my insert. I lettered with a pencil then traced with Emboss It Clear Pen. I covered the inked area with Gold Zing Embossing powder then I tapped and brushed off the extra powder and poured them back into the container.
I used my heating tool and the magic happened! Seriously, this technique never fails to amaze me.
I went ahead and worked on my Dashboard. I applied White Heavy Gesso on the first page to prepare it for some watercoloring.
I lettered “Hope” lightly with a pencil and applied Fineline Masking Fluid on top of it. What I love most about this masking fluid is that it comes with a very fine applicator. The name says it all.
I allowed the masking fluid to dry then I started working some florals with my watercolors. I used Prima Marketing Watercolor Confections – The Classics and Pastel Dreams with Pentel Aquash brush pens.
Now ready to peel off the masking fluid! TIP: You have to wait for the watercolor to dry before gently rubbing off the masking fluid.
I opted to use the Alpha Stickers by Kaisercraft to spell “January” since it is matching with the color scheme. I went ahead and designed my layout for the week. I once again applied White Gesso over the areas where I plan to paint more florals. I used the same color scheme and materials and added these gorgeous stickers from Create 365 Value Pack Stickers. I lettered with Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen and doodled / lined with Micron and Sharpie Metallic pen in SIlver.
And I loved how it turned out!
There you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading and I can’t wait to share with you more of my creations. Until next time!
xoxo, Zeny Liz
