How to Stand Out on Instagram as an Artist and Get More Followers

Instagram is the best place for us artists to showcase our works and get more clients. It’s one of my favourite platforms for marketing and networking.

But nowadays, it’s a lot more competitive with accounts that have very similar themes and content. If you are concerned about your art account getting lost in the crowd and want to stand out, this blog post is for you.

Here are a few basic things you need to do before you think about how to stand out on Instagram:

1. Figure out your ICA

Your Ideal Client Avatar (ICA) is the imaginary profile of your perfect client. It defines who you are targeting with your products or services. Knowing your ICA is important to grow your social media. Because, you need to know exactly who you are targeting. This will give you clarity on the content you post. Post at the time when your ICA is active on Instagram.

You can download a free checklist to find your ICA here.

2. Show up consistently

Consistency is the key to success. And, it applies to your Instagram as well. You need to decide to post and engage consistently. For this, you can create a content calendar and plan your posts in advance.

Consistency may mean different things to different people. If you want to post daily, or thrice a week, or once a week, it’s up to you. But make sure you keep a schedule and maintain consistency.

3. Know how you can provide value

Why would someone follow you on Instagram? What value can you provide to your target audience as an artist? Set your goals and know exactly how you want to help your audience.

Once you have a vision, your content will be precise and bring you leads. Your content can be informative, cheerful, emotional, thoughtful, or expressive.

4. Engage regularly

Instagram is not only for posting content. To reach a wider audience and make the most out of it, you need to network. Many creators miss out on Find other accounts in your niche and engage with their content — comment on their posts, build connections — all by providing value.

5. Be authentic

The internet is full of artificiality. So, as an artist, you should stay true to who you are. Be yourself and don’t try to fit in. So, let your audience know that you’re authentic.

How to Stand Out on Instagram — 5 Tips

Now that you know the basics, here are 5 tips on how to stand out on Instagram as an artist:

Interactive Stories

Instagram stories are a great way to connect with your audience. Instead of just putting up new posts in stories, make it interesting and attractive. As opposed to feed posts, try posting multiple stories daily. This will keep your image alive in the minds of your audience.

You can make your stories interactive by doing Q&As, countdowns for your product release, and doing polls. You could also come on camera and talk about something. Also, you could do mini-vlogs of your daily life. Add up some colour to your stories by using fun stickers and text.

Collaborate

Collaboration is very powerful when it comes to social media. Find people in your niche with good influence and build a connection with them. Host lives or free webinars that benefits your audience. this will help you get a wider reach.

Authentic videos

If you are someone who hasn’t yet started posting video content on Instagram, you’re doing it all wrong! Instagram algorithm favours reels and other forms of video content. So, you are missing out on a lot.

But how do you stand out with Instagram reels and make sure your content does not drown into the millions of other reels getting posted every hour? The key is to make your videos authentic. Make them attractive to your target audience by not only providing value, but also by staying authentic.

Keep Evolving

The Instagram algorithm is highly unpredictable. But, that doesn’t mean your growth will be compromised. Stay up with trends and know what works best for you.

Content that your target audience loved 2 years ago might not be relevant today. So, find out how you can stay valuable and evolve. You should try to adapt to the latest trends if it suits your business. For example, doing a trending reel challenge in your reach can help reach a wider audience.

Build your Community

The best way to get your audience interact with your content is to make them care. Target a common interest and create interactive and valuable content around it. Post inspirational quotes, personal experiences, memes, and other highly relatable content.

People are tired of all the salesy and marketing content out there. So, make sure you provide real value to your audience and make yourself stand out.
