Mixed Media Card Tutorial

RainbowcardPJ1

Hi guys! Happy Thursday to all  the week is almost over ! Its Pooja here and if you have just arrived at the blog then do check out the current challenge details here.

The challenge this month is Rainbow Colours, Which is really fun to do. So here a tute on how i did my card .

Rainbowcardtute1

  • I started off by taking my white card .
  • I then placed a smaller rectangular corrugated paper piece over it to see if its the right size. I re-used some packaging material for the corrugated piece here.
  • Now that I was happy with the size , i will work on the corrugated piece separately.

  • The next step was to apply a random coat of Gesso . If you don’t have Gesso use white acrylic paint.
  • Let it dry . If you have heat gun use it!

Rainbowcardtute4

  • I then tore off the papers randomly and adhered them to the corrugated paper.
  • Since its rainbow colours i decided to play with some unusual papers that normally wont be set together.

Rainbowcardtute5

  • So i aligned the geometric paper on the sides.

Rainbowcardtute6

  • I then tore off the side of my other paper and aligned it on top, such that it covers the whole thing.

Rainbowcardtute7

  • Now here comes the fun part ! Just grab your craft knife and make random incisions on your paper. You can make an X or a Y shape cut on your paper .

Rainbowcardtute8

  • Now peel off some paper from the incisions you made ! The cuts make it easier to peel .

Rainbowcardtute9

  • See what i mean ? This way you get an amazing background .
  • I wanted to show the corrugated paper through , so some of my cuts were pretty deep.

Rainbowcardtute10

  • At this stage i distressed my background with distress ink – Tattered rose.

Rainbowcardtute11

  • After that i again added a wash of gesso on my background.

Rainbowcardtute12

  • Now come the time to play with some colours !
  • Using a paintbrush and watercolours i made some colour splatters on my background.

Rainbowcardtute13

  • Starting with yellow, i went ahead and added some more colours.

Rainbowcardtute14

  • Then i added some lace.

Rainbowcardtute15

  • I love to make bows ! so i added a jute twine and made a double bow with it.
  • I also added a Key charm from – Maya road , to the bow.

Rainbowcardtute16

  • The next step was to add a piece of distressed mesh cloth. Rainbowcardtute17
  • Next i added the prima resin oval frame.
  • After which i did the rest of my embellishment placement.
  • Once done with layering all the embellishment i adhered my background to my card .

Here is how the finished card looks.
