This is Shruti here and I am back with yet another tutorial featuring Silhouette Cameo. This time I am showing you how to make your own stencils using vinyl and acetate sheet.
So without further ado, lets get started with the tutorial.
I first started with making a vinyl stencil. Here I am using Silhouette’s Premium Vinyl in the color white.
While using Vinyl make sure you always choose the option ‘load media’ on the Cameo.
I decided to cut out this really pretty pebble background stencil.
I adhered this pebble vinyl stencil on to a canvas,
Here I am using the Prima Marketing Finnabair Art Extravagance Texture paste all over the stencil to create an embossed effect.
This is how it looks once the stencil is peeled and dried. Beautiful, isn’t it?
I repeated the steps on an another canvas of the same size and went ahead and painted both of them in a color of my choice. You can see how the dry brush technique gives a really pretty look to the dried texture paste.
I left the canvas to dry and hopped on to the next step. I cut out a silhouette image of Lord Buddha, using my Silhouette Cameo, onto a really thick cardstock as well as a wood-grain pattern paper.
I glued them together using a really strong glue and distressed the edges of the cut out image using a Distress ink in the color Vintage Photo
My next step was to cut out yet another stencil but this time using an acetate sheet. Here I am using Judikins Embossable Window Plastic Sheets.
Here is a closer look at the shape I chose to cut on the acetate sheet with the help of Cameo
Here is how it looks when I used it on the pattern paper using the same texture paste. If you are wondering about the color, I just mixed it with some Gold acrylic pain before smearing it through the stencil.
I cut out a round shape on burlap and painted it gold.
I also added some fine gold glitter powder in the center of it using Mod Podge. It takes a while to dry.
Now going back to the cut cut out Lord Buddha image. I backed it with lots and lots of foam tape so it has a bit of a risen effect when stuck on to the canvas.
Finally, I put them all together for the final look.
I decided to keep it simple like always.
Before I end this post I have to say that Silhouette Cameo truly is a versatile product. There are numerous ways you can use it depending on your creativity. It is definitely a must have for any one who loves to craft!
That is all from me for today.
