Plan with Me : December 2017 ׀ Photo Tutorial

Hey everyone! Happy Holidays! It’s me Zeny Liz and I’m here to share with you how I made my project for this month’s theme “Gold”.

I love to add a touch of gold to all my works, be it in Interior Architecture or crafting. For me, it adds sophistication and elegance to everything. Gold is also associated with abundance, prosperity, and well-being which is really perfect for December.

My project is all about planning while infusing art into it. I have done some festive art decorations too! So let’s get started.

As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, I love making my own planner layouts because it gives me the flexibility that I need. Since I am using blank inserts, I started off with sketches. Then I applied Prima Marketing Heavy Gesso in White on areas where I plan to use watercolor. And I allowed it to dry.

Monthly layout. I wanted to have an artwork on this page that reflects my interests in painting princesses and mixed-media, plus of course keeping the festive and gold theme in mind. So why I created her. I used the same mixed-media technique that I featured on my previous blog (Lettering Background with a Twist).  I used materials from my previous DT kits — Cheesecloth, Prima watercolors, Tombow brush pens to create her Christmas-tree inspired gown. I added a touch of Finetec Gold on the edges to make it more elegant.

To achieve the texture and gradient of colors that I want, I used cheesecloth and applied watercolor on it. I added more details by using Micron pens, Sharpie Gold Metallic paint pen, Tombow brush pens and Finetec Golds.

I completed the layout by working on the wreaths and gold ornaments using Prima watercolor and Finetec Gold.

I have lettered the days and dates with Tombow Fodenosuke brush pen.

Week 1 Layout.  I did the same techniques and used the same materials for the next layouts. This time incorporating two of my favorite design elements, Floral and Gold!

I used gold foiled stickers from this  MAMBI 621 pcs Sticker book. I tell you these stickers are so gorgeous!

Week 2 Layout. I made a more simple and functional layout. I created a simple gold wash background at the bottom and splattered Finetec Gold all over the pages. I used Sharpie Gold Metallic paint pen for the lines and doodles and then lettered with Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen.  I have added To-do list, To-buy and Notes sections as well.

A closer look at the golds and lettering.

Week 3 Layout. I wanted to make this spread a little special. Yep! Because my birthday! I made a pocket using Pretty Paper Studio’s Thank you card. I love the quote on it so why not? And besides, being a PPSUAE DT Member is one of the things that I am grateful for. It has given me the opportunity to share with you my creativity and a chance to spend quality time with my inner self. Thank you Neelu!

I adhered the DIY pocket using MAMBI Gold washi tape that I got from my previous DT kit. And once again lettered with Sharpie Gold pen and Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen. All lines were made by Micron pens.

I inserted my notes and to-do lists in the DIY pocket.

Week 4 Layout. Of course Christmas tree! I painted the tree on a tracing paper and added details on it using the same pens and watercolor. I adhered the tree on to my planner page and applied Finetec Gold around it. I used Alpha stickers from my previous DT kit and lettered with my brush pen.

And Viola!

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading and I can’t wait to share with you more of my creations. Sending you warm wishes for the Holiday Season! Until next time.

xoxo, Zeny Liz
