Hello! Donna here with my take on this month’s “Anything Festive” theme.
My project today is a scrapbooking layout featuring the Stay Colorful collection by Dear Lizzy. This collection is truly perfect for this month’s theme!
As always, we share a step-by-step tutorial of our projects every month with the hope that we inspire you enough to re-create them yourselves. Personally, I would love for you to try any of my scrapbooking layouts/projects! Do tag us when you share it on social media or you can leave a comment here on the blog post itself.
So, let’s get started!
I like using a collection because there is no more mind-guessing if the papers and embellishments will work together. The only thing you will need to do is think of the design.
For my layout, I chose this pink and white stripes paper as the main background. Then I made a banner by cutting 5 pieces of pennants as shown in the image below. I curled the top part and the edges using a brush. Just to give it a bit of flair.
I used a black and white trim adhering it to the pennants with double-sided tape. I adhered the pink and white stripes paper to another paper with a black and white pattern. This is to anchor the black and white trim to the overall design. I trimmed off an inch to one side of the pink and white stripes paper before adhering to the bottom paper.
I splattered black Color Shine before placing my photo/s. I also added a doily and some messy thread underneath the photo layer before adhering into place. You don’t have to layer photos like I did mine, I just like doing this because I tend to print several of the same photos with different edits (so I can choose between a b/w, kind of sepia or any other photo actions I happen to use at the time.)
The banner I made was the starting point of the design process. The curve served as the guide when I placed the fussy cut flowers onto the background. I like creating movement or flow to my layouts most of the time and this is one way to do it. Using foam tapes will create dimension so I used it to some of the flowers and other embellishments instead of just adhering them flat on the layout.
And this is how it turned out
I love the mixture of stickers and chipboards and fussy cut elements

That’s it for today, I hope you liked my project! I do love to know your thoughts about it so don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Happy crafting,
Donna
