Hey, crafty peeps! This is Jehan from JeCrafts again with my December Handlettering project. And this time I am super excited because it’s my favorite theme. The theme for this month is ‘gold’. I love working with gold because it adds a lot of grace to your work. And its perfect for this festive season.
This time my project includes lettering and mixed media. This is my first time in mix media and definitely not my last! Absolutely enjoyed this experience.
For this project the materials used are
- Mambi Single-Sided Paper Pad Gold Rush
- Papicolor 210gsm Cardstock Pearly White
- Maggie Holmes Carousel Double-Sided Cardstock Belle
- Zella Teal Decorative Glitter Tape
- Zella Teal Flowers Wanderer
- Black Cardstock 170gsm
- Kuretake Gansai Tambi Single Pan–Bluish Gold
- Sharpie Metallic Fine Point Permanent Marker – Gold
First decided on my color theme. I have chosen Black, White, and Teal along with the theme color gold. Then roughly I set the background in order to determine the shape and size of my lettering. I used Maggie Holes Carousel Double-Sided Cardstock Belle as my first main background and a Gold Foil cardstock from Mambi Single-Sided Paper Pad Gold Rush for an outer layer of my letter piece. I decided to letter on black cardstock as it would compliment my gold lettering well.
The quote I choose to letter was “ Shine as Gold, Sparkle as Glitter”. First I marked out the general measurements. Letter the quote out roughly in pencil. Add the gold color to the lettering using Sharpie Metallic Fine Point Permanent Marker – Gold and Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor set – Bluish Gold. Once the lettering is done erase off the pencil marks.
Once the lettering piece is finalized set and glue the background and the lettering on to the Papicolor 210 gsm cardstock.
To make the art piece more interesting add the embellishments. Here I have used Zella Teal Flowers Wanderer and Zella Teal Decorative Glitter Tape.
