Hello everyone! Anjali here from The Letters of an Architect back with the project for September. The theme for this month is ‘Stamptember’ and I have created Name / Place-cards using the gorgeous Tulips stamp set designed by Shruti.
They are becoming really popular these days and can be used at wedding tables, banquets, birthday parties, workshops or any event of your choice to jazz things up. They can be made according to the theme and decor of the party or event and can even be taken home by the guests as a souvenir. The fact that these are handmade makes them even more special.
I made a pair of name cards and also a Thank you card using the ‘Thank you’ lettering stamp in this set.
The following are the list of supplies used, followed by the step-by-step process of how to make them.

- Uni-Paint Posca Paint Marker Pen – 2.5mm Tip White
- Sakura of America Pen-Touch Paint Marker Extra Fine Point .7mm-Gold Metallic
- Bazzill Orange Peel Cardstock 12″X12″ Black/Orange Peel
- Winsor & Newton 4” X6″-Bound Watercolor Pad
- Heat Embossing Kit
- Emboss It Pens 2/Pkg – Black & Clear
Step 1
Measure and divide the Cardstock paper into the required number of Place-cards and cut them using a blade. Then fold them horizontally in half.
Step 2
From the Tulips Stamp set, select the patterns you like and stamp them using the Versamark Watermark stamp. This helps adhere the Embossing powder onto the paper in the desired pattern. Now use the heat tool and once the powder melts it becomes raised and shiny.
After that, draw a white rectangle with the Uni Posca white marker and paint patterns around it with the Pastel Dreams watercolor palette. The chalky nature of these paints gives them a more opaque finish on dark cardstock paper. I picked 3 complementary colors for the pattern.
Step 3
In the space left in the center, letter in the names using the Gold Marker.
Step 4
Thicken the downstrokes for a faux-calligraphy effect and the place-cards are complete! You could also use the Alphabet stamps from PPS to stamp in the names easily without having to letter.
Now, onto the Thank You card, which can be given with return gifts at parties. For this, I used watercolor paper instead of the black card-stock.
Step 1
Sketch a pencil outline of the drawings.
Step 2
Paint very loosely with watercolor, add strokes with clear water at the edges of the wet paint and spread it around to give it a loose dreamy effect.
Step 3
Draw in the flowers using a fine line marker like Pigma Micron over the dried watercolor.
Step 4
Stamp in the ‘Thank you’ sentiment using the versamark watermark stamp and Emboss it using the heat tool. That’s it!
