“You are my world” – Masculine Scrapbook Layout | Photo Tutorial

Hello! Donna here sharing my take on this month’s challenge: “M is for Masculine”. I have to say this month’s theme is really challenging. I struggle with any masculine or boy-themed projects, I like flowers and the color pink! But I was able to make something and I’m really happy how it turned out.

Before I show what I made, here is a step-by-step tutorial on my layout:

Sticking with the colors blue, green and yellow made it easier for me to form an idea what to do. Since flowers are out, I opted for a star cut file by Just Nick Studio. I cut two of the Starburst cut file and backed the open stars with cardstock.

The yellow rub-on added an interesting texture as well as a bit of color pop. I placed the rub-on on the bottom left and upper right side of the layout

Then I splattered some black Color Shine mist and blue/green/black watercolors

After everything dried, I placed the star cut files with foam tape for a bit of dimension. I adhered some messy thread under the photo before adhering it into place.

After this, I added the title work. I cut the word “world” using my Silhouette Cameo machine. I matted it with a cardstock with black watercolor and fussy cut with scissors. The Heidi Swapp alphas were also colored with watercolors and a bit of the black Color Shine.

As you will notice, I also used some PinkFresh Indigo Hill rubber charms. Some have color pink around it so I trimmed them off.

Instead of throwing away the cut-out stars, I also used them here and it added more interesting dimension to the layout.

I like how the black/greyish colors (and 1 pop of red heart!) made the overall look of the layout come together.

See, that’s not so bad (Me, telling myself I can make boyish-themed layouts too!). I really LOVE how this turned out and I’m quite impressed with myself.

I hope you liked my project today and I hope it inspired you to create something out of your norm. Do try this month’s PPS challenge and we would love to see your takes!

Happy crafting!
